Hilary Unger, Esq.

Hilary Unger received both her Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Florida, (go Gators!), and she is admitted to practice in the state courts of Texas, New York and New Jersey, as well as in the federal courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas and the District of New Jersey. She has made criminal and CPS law the primary focus of her practice.

During her twenty years of practice, Hilary Unger has handled thousands of criminal cases and has developed an expertise in representing families who are fighting CPS. Over the course of her legal career, Hilary has worked as a public defender, an assistant district attorney, a criminal defense attorney in private practice, and as both an ad litem and defense attorney in CPS cases. Hilary understands what it takes to prepare a successful defense, and she always goes the “extra mile” for her clients.

Hilary began her practice as a defense attorney in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the country, namely, the Bronx, in New York City. Later, she became a prosecutor in Kings County (Brooklyn), New York, were she was selected to participate in a federally funded program prosecuting complex narcotics and conspiracy cases. However, realizing that her true passion was criminal defense, Hilary left the Kings County District Attorney’s Office to return to the criminal defense bar, in order to defend the rights of indigent defendants and others who were arrested and prosecuted in Manhattan and the Bronx.

Now that Hilary and her family have relocated to Houston, she has brought her considerable experience and skill as a criminal defense and CPS attorney to bear in the Texas District Courts, where she appears regularly. She has demonstrated an uncompromising willingness and ability to work hard to safeguard the rights of her clients, and to obtain the best possible outcome.
